It is worth noting that there are both pifeng and doupeng in \u201cA Dream of Red Chamber\u201d, indicating that there are differences between the two.<\/p>\n<p>In Ming Dynasty, Wang Qi\u2019s \u201cSancai Tuhui (Chinese: \u4e09\u624d\u56fe\u4f1a ; pinyin: s\u0101n c\u00e1i t\u00fa hu\u00ec)\u201d said: \u201cBeizi, the current pifeng.\u201d \u201cIn other words, pifeng in the Ming and Qing dynasties was beizi of the Song Dynasty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The illustration beizi in \u201cSancai Tuhui\u201d shows a kind of long shirt with a central front collar or dui-jin and slits under the two armpits with two long sleeves.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese thinker Zhu Shunshui in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties described the pifeng in \u201cShunshui Zhu Shi Tan Qi (Chinese: \u821c\u6c34\u6731\u6c0f\u8c08\u7eee ; pinyin: sh\u00f9n shu\u01d0 zh\u016b sh\u00ec t\u00e1n q\u01d0)\u201d as a central front collar, with a hem and left and right slits.<\/p>\n<p>According to the information from \u201cSancai Tuhui\u201d and \u201cShunshui Zhu Shi Tan Qi\u201d, pifeng in the Ming Dynasty is actually similar to the beizi in the Song Dynasty, but pifeng is different from doupeng.
